Alles ist vergänglich und jeder ist austauschbar heutzutage. Ich besuche gerne das Haus der Photographie, Deichtorhallen, Hamburg. Und meine Jungs in der Golem Bar in Hamburg. Was liest und hörst du momentan und welche Standardwerke möchtest du nicht missen? Hmmm, lesen tue ich aktuelle nix konkretes. Aber wenn sich doch mal Zeit finden sollte, dann gerne die Werke von Max Goldt. Ich kenne niemanden mit solch einer scharfen Beobachtungsgabe. Heute läuft im Hintergrund Mike Figgis und Tomoki Kanada. Aber das ändert sich täglich bei mir. Standradwerke – "Le petit prince" von Antoine de Saint-Exupéry ist zeitlos. Auch nach 70 Jahren.

The last four years I’ve been working as a social media manager in a start-up company. Far future plans: Spending the fall of my life in a beautiful home in Hackney or Shoreditch. My baking skills are great. Unfortunately cooking is not so well – but this was not the question. What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? I’m fed up with boring social media content.   My adrenaline level ramps up when I’m thinking of flying. In a very negative way. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? Currently nothing material. I longed for vacation and I went to the French Atlantic Coast – before starting the island life here. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? My mobile. 24/7 on Insta, Snapchat and Facebook. Of course ONLY for professional reasons. For that I also play PokémonGo. No idea how many times I've read the books and watched the films. But I also I like to read Ken Follett, Jussi Adler-Olsen, Zadie Smith, Orwell or Shakespeare.   Talking about music: I'm not really rarely open to new ideas – which I consider myself a bit uncool. I get bored of superficiality, monologues and traffic jams. Chaos, no Nutella at home, empty batteries on the one hand travelling in general on the other hand affect my adrenaline level. I enjoy travelling to extraordinary places, exploring foreign cultures and sharing good experiences with my family and friends. What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? I’m browsing through Salt & Silver – a mix of travel and cook book. The book on my night table: Love x Style x Life Music I like: Angus & Julia Stone (Grizzly Bear), Ryan Adams (All you had to do was stay), James Bay (Let it go), Jennifer Hudson (Trouble), Robin Schulz (Headlights). Ja, auch wenn ich keine einzige davon schaue, die Namen reichen schon… Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Ein Stück Torte, das neben meinem Laptop steht und darauf wartet, gegessen zu werden, wenn ich mit dem Beantworten fertig bin. Welches Gadget ist unentbehrlich und welche Applikation hat immer eine Lösung parat? Google. Welcher Domain stattest du täglich einen Besuch ab und wem gerne in echt? In nächster Zeit wird das vor allem Google Maps sein. Ansonsten unzählige tumblr Blogs. In echt: Alle Orte, wo es leckeres Essen gibt. Was liest und hörst du momentan und welche Standardwerke möchtest du nicht missen? Gerade lese ich "Die Physiker" von Dürrenmatt ? eines meiner Lieblingsbücher. Musik: The XX, Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, Lorde, Birdy gehen immer und gerade "wiederentdeckt" Fleetwood Mac mit "Everywhere".

Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Ich komme ursprünglich aus der Nähe von Stuttgart und bin aber nun – wie ein echter Klischee-Schwabe – zum zweiten mal nach Berlin gezogen. Die Entscheidung war sehr bewusst und daher gibt es erst einmal keinen Wunsch, wohin es weiter gehen soll. Welche Fähigkeiten bringst auf die Insel mit, und wohin möchtest du dein Talent entwickeln? Die kreative Entwicklung von narrativen medienübergreifenden Kampagnen und das Wissen um deren Umsetzung ist ein Hauptbestandteil meiner bisherigen Arbeit. Genau das möchte ich einbringen, vieles Neues lernen und die Prozesse sowie die Zusammenarbeit zwischen den einzelnen Gewerken im Biotop weiter verbessern. Was langweilt dich zu Tode und was lässt deinen Adrenalinpegel steigen? Absolut langweilig finde ich Strandurlaube und Hotels – da bin ich raus. Das Gegenteil: Wassermelone. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Hinter was ich gerade wirklich her bin, ist ein Stück Land in der abgelegenen Natur außerhalb von Berlin. Ihr wisst schon – Obstbäume, Beeren, Gemüse, Holzhütte, Feuerplatz. Uff, „bewegend" ist so ein bedeutungsschwangeres Wort … trotzdem, wenn ich es schaffe Studenten, Freunden oder wem auch immer zu helfen, ist das ein gutes Gefühl. Welche Fähigkeiten bringst auf die Insel mit, und wohin möchtest du dein Talent entwickeln? In Chaos beseitigen und für Ruhe sorgen bin ich ziemlich gut. Sieht man layout-technisch auch hier: www.dominikbubel.de. Ich möchte tiefer in die Screen- und Interface-Design-Materie eintauchen. . Was langweilt dich zu Tode und was lässt deinen Adrenalinpegel steigen? Mich langweilen: Unnötiges Geschnacke und nicht auf den Punkt kommen. Mein Herzfrequenz steigt bei allem, was sich wie Chaos in meinem Auge anfühlt. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I come from Bad Honnef, a small town close to Bonn, where the population of horses outdoes the population of people. After graduating university I was ready for the real life and headed straight to Munich for an internship at a TV station. As an outdoor enthusiast the Mont Blanc is still on my "To-be-climbed"-list. Setting ambitious goals and taking up challenges define my motivation. Maybe it's because I belong to the generation Y or it's because I am outside a lot, but without GPS I would be literally lost. Which website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline? For inspiration I visit the website www.abduzeedo.com, where I can browse through different design, illustration and photography collections. More frequently I go on the movie database website www.mojoba.de, to pick out a "must-see" movie, so eventuelly some day I have seen the whole list of "The Best Movies Of All Time“. If I am not spending my online time with movies, I like to see them as well offline in small but authentic program movie theatres. Usually I will be joined by friends who, like me have not only a passion for velvet cinema chairs, but love the outdoor walls and rocks for climbing just as much. Woher kommst du und wohin willst du?Ich komme aus Köln, habe in Krefeld an der Hochschule Niederrhein Kommunikationsdesign studiert und im Februar meinen Bachelor gemacht. Durch das breite Angebot im Studium habe ich Fähigkeiten und Einblicke in viele gestalterische Bereiche sammeln können. Von Print und Typografie über Film und Fotografie bis Corporate und Branding. Bei meinem beruflichen Start ist mir der Bezug zum Bewegtbild wichtig und ich will in dem Bereich noch viel lernen. Da sind die Insel-Projekte genau das Richtige. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Ganz aktuell ein Butterbrot, aber ich will mir auch schon länger ein Grafiktablet anschaffen. Ausserdem wäre es sehr interessant zu wissen, wie die Menschen in 200 Jahren leben und was sie dann über heute denken. Notizbuch und Stift sollte immer dabei sein – neben dem Smartphone, in dem wahrscheinlich die Bahn App am häufigsten eine Lösung liefert. Im echten Leben treffe ich am liebsten natürlich Freunden und Familie. Was liest und hörst du momentan, und welches Standardwerk möchtest du nicht missen?Aktuell lese ich die neon und habe grade „Black Out“ von Marc Elsberg beendet. Erkenntnisreich war definitiv „Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things“. Musikalisch kann ich vielen Richtungen was abgewinnen, aber vor allem Hip Hop und Beats. Momentan wird viel Umse und Betty Ford Boys gehört.

Where do you come from, and where are you headed? Geographically speaking, I was born and raised in Guatemala and have been living in Germany for the past 4 years. Professionally speaking, I come from a Technical and Customer Support role at an Amazon Subsidiary by day and a Web Development and Design student by night.I am headed into becoming a full time Web Developer through a Web Development traineeship at Parasol. . What skills do you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? I can make a killer Guacamole. Oh, I also have some web development and design knowledge, which I look forward to use in future projects. I want to develop strategies for writing better and more efficient code, as well as to learn how to think strategically in projects. What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? What bores me? I guess anything that has to do with waiting. For example, waiting in line, waiting for the delayed U-bahn, waiting for a slow website to load. What ramps my adrenaline? A good song, looking at a cool website (like this one), superhero movies, meeting friends for a drink or two, reading funny t-rex jokes, playing cageball, dutch interior design (I know, that ́s a bit weird), dancing Lindy Hop, building stuff (with code or with real life materials), and, as cheesy as it sounds, I love learning new things.. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? Um, I think it would be cool to have an Apple Watch with a GPS tracker for running and through which I could listen to Spotify offline without having to carry my phone. Maybe Apple’s September release introduces this... What moves me? Traveling. Seeing different cultures and ways of doing things fascinates me. I feel inspired by nature. I pretty much listen to anything and everything. I go from salsa to schlager, from swing to rap and everything in between. Yesterday I was really hooked on Eminem, today I am listening to Britney Spears' new album (I feel a bit embarrassed, but I was curious to hear what her new sound was like). Classics? In music I am a big fan of the 90’s. I would say one of my all time favorites is Changes by Tupac. Now for books, in literature I really love the story of Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde. Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I come from a little village near Osnabrück and I just genuinely hated growing up there. Nothing to do all day, but watching cows turning grass into poop! I always saw myself somewhere in a bigger city. I never really felt at home in Germany, I was always drawn to the idea of living in England. It’s still one of my biggest goals. Career wise applying for the job at Parasol was a big step into a better direction. Scary, but mostly exciting. I guess you gotta risk it to get the biscuit!  What skills do you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? „I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you“. Nah – just kidding, but A+ if you know which movie this is from. I would say my Lettering skills are something not everyone’s familiar with nor has the experience or the ambition to do so. I am in love with the individual aspect of it. Creating something new and from scratch, without using fonts that already exist. I like. Developing my talents: To be honest, I want to know everything! But If I had to choose I’d like to get more knowledge in the fields of web & app design. I always had a thing for the digital and interactive side of design, especially coming from a print background. But I never really had the chance to get into it more and in depth.  What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? Bad movies with horrible story lines and especially with bad dubs! There‘s nothing worse than a bad voice actor killing the great performance of an actor. That‘s probably one of my biggest pet peeves. I only watch movies or series in their original language, no exceptions.  FANGIRLING! When a new season starts or a new movie comes out. Writing and discussing theories with friends about what could happen next just gives me life. I mean Rey is definitely a reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker!!  Well written characters. Interesting character development. Fandoms and the devotion that they put into their fan art, cosplays etc. Also people who know more than me, especially about work. Just feed me your knowledge!  What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? My guitar...always! I am most certainly not the best singer songwriter, but there’s nothing better than writing a new song at 4 am.  New clothes! Sounds superficial, but defining myself trough my looks and clothes is a big part of me. It‘s not important to look pretty, it‘s the part where I just can be who I want to be without questioning myself. I have this particular image of me in my head and I‘m not going to stop until I get it. I just want to be! Just be.  What gadget is indispensable? Toothbrush!  What website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline?Netflix & Tumblr. Yeah, I know you probably expected a fancy design website, but nope just that. I need my daily dose of series and movies. Tumblr in particular is a great platform for new and interesting things. You can basically find everything you like! I learned a lot over the past years, by simply reading stories about people on Tumblr. You gain insight of so many different mindsets. That‘s pretty interesting. Aaand it‘s also the best platform for fangirling there is! Period. Offline: The greatest people in the whole world of course! We are a squad of 4 and we have this thing that we call MÄGGER MITTWOCH (sometimes we actually manage it to be on Wednesdays) where we play cards, drink beer and complain about everything that bothers us. Without them I would be lost! Sadly all of us will be living in different cities soon.  What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? Harry Potter! Always! I listen to the audio books (only read by Rufus Beck) at least twice a year since I was 8. And yes it never gets old. Besides Harry Potter, I enjoy reading a lot of Fantasy. Especially Terry Pratchett. His version of Death is by far my favourite character of all time. The title of my portfolio is basically based on this particular character. I am really into everything from the late 60s, 70s, 80s (Very important! Best time for music and movies. Well, at least the most cheesy ones): Classic Rock, Nintendocore, Thrash Metal... From Careless Whispers from Wham! (and yes I liked this song before Deadpool came out) to Disciple from Slayer. I always say „I like everything, except for the things I don’t like!“ Favorite song at the moment: Larkin Poe - Sucker Puncher. Classics: If you‘re into video game themed music and all that kinda stuff and you haven’t listened to The Protomen or The Magic Sword. You’re defo missing out big time! Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Ich komme ursprünglich aus Dinslaken, das auf der Grenze vom Niederrhein und dem Ruhrgebiet liegt. Was langweilt dich zu Tode und was lässt deinen Adrenalinpegel steigen? Lange alleine Auto fahren. Voll öde. Mein Adrenalinpegel steigt ordentlich bei nem guten Film oder ner guten Serie. Ich sag nur Game of Thrones Staffel 4 Folge 8. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Eine selbst gestaltete New Era Cap von newerabyyou.com wäre schon ziemlich sweet. Bewegen tun mich lustige Filme, bevorzugt mit Will Ferrell oder Seth Rogen, spannende Serien von denen man an einem verregneten Tag auch gern mal ne ganze Staffel schafft, und etwas handwerkliches an meiner Wohnung zu machen, bevorzugt mit meiner Makita Ausrüstung. Welches Gadget ist unentbehrlich und welche Applikation hat immer eine Lösung parat? Ich weiß jetzt nicht unbedingt ob ein Blu-ray player ein Gadget ist, aber ohne den wär es schon ziemlich mies. Die Applikation, die wirklich immer was passendes für mich im Angebot hat ist watchever. Mal sehen, was Netflix demnächst so auffährt. Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Nach meinem Abitur war ich für ein Jahr in Dallas als Au Pair. Ignoring red lights on crossroads (sometimes, haha). Riding close to objects. Pushing your adrenaline level can be real fun. What’s your current object of desire, and what really moves you? To beat the climb of the infamous Mont Ventoux this month. Makin’ moves moves me. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? My technics 1210er are indispensable. I can trust them and they will run forever. There is an app called “Streichholz ziehen” If you don’t find a solution – grab a “Streichholz”. Which website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline? Honestly, vimeo.com is the place to go. Sometimes it’s really hard to keep updated because so many new videos are uploaded every day. But a perfect day should start and end with a nice video which reminds us of the reason why we’re working in this field of work. Cause we simply love beautiful things. I love to meet friends in personal. All day long we’re staring at displays whether it’s a computer or cellphone display. It’s a refreshing feeling to turn it off and enjoy analogue things. If it’s cooking or playing some music. In my opinion it can be really efficient and satisfying to work with friends or colleagues on ideas which are not limited by the speed of the internet. Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Geographisch komme ich aus dem schönen Mülheim an der Ruhr. My iWatch has been my most dispensable gadget. I think about buying Alexa, cause even if I love writing I like to find some ways to avoid using my keyboard whole day long. Still sitzen und wirkungslosen Vorträgen zuhören langweilt mich zu Tode. Ansonsten kann ich mich für alles schnell begeistern, bei dem irgendwo ein Ergebnis am Ende rauskommt. Außer Laubsägearbeiten ... die fand ich schon in der 5. Klasse doof. Adrenalintechnisch geht bei mir die Lutzi ab, wenn meine monatliche Party in Köln ansteht. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Mein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde kenne ich wahrscheinlich noch nicht mal, denn das sehe ich erst, wenn ich davor stehe – No Homo Oeconomicus. Andererseits weiß ich schon, dass ich an keinem Plattenladen vorbei gehen kann, ohne zumindest mal reinzuschauen und mir die Neuzugänge anzuhören. Uninspired photography and small talk at parties. I can get excited about the cliffhanger of a good TV show or the latest electronic gadget. What's your current object of desire and what really moves you? ? The new Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II. But hey, it’s something else in a couple of months.  I’m really moved by some people: It doesn’t matter how far away they are or how long I didn’t meet them – but they are still close friends. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? My phone is quite indispensable but when I’m outside with my camera I hardly take it out anymore.  I also use SKRWT and Snapseed. They are my most used apps after the music player and Instagram. Which website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline?Instagram, although mostly on the phone. I really like to hang with my friends: in bars, movies, clubs or home. What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? I mostly read comic books and can recommend „Day Tripper“ by Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba, twins from Brazil who are both authors and artists. But you can read almost anything written by Brian K. Vaughan or Brian Wood without being disappointed. Classics? Read „V for Vendetta“ instead of „Watchmen“.

Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I grew up in Düsseldorf. After stops in Hamburg and Cape Town I came back to Düsseldorf. And still love it. What skills do you bring to the company? Ironing is one of the most boring things in life. I really hate it. I try to push my adrenaline level to max during downhill bike sessions with friends. And of course my son Piet makes me run on adrenaline. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? My T4 Van. For all small and bigger escapes. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? Sad but true: my smartphone. Sounds boring, huh? What website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline? Frequently? Google.com – that was easy. Family, Friends,... And all the wonderful people on the Island. What books and music are you enjoying at the moment?  I used to read a lot, but currently it became less. Mmmmh, last book was „Die granulare Gesellschaft“ which is about how digitalization is changing society. Classics? I really like Kafka. And „Momo“ from Michael Ende.

Das iPad Mini Retina. Foursquare. Zumindest in vielen Dingen. Welcher Domain stattest du täglich einen Besuch ab und wem gerne in echt? faz.net und bild.de – aber natürlich nur für die Sportseiten ... In Echt treffe ich gerne so häufig es geht meine Freunde. Aber auch die 11Freunde und die Beef werden fleißig gelesen. Spotify findet täglich neue Musik für mich. Eure Empfehlungen zu Standardwerken sind willkommen.
