Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Ich komme aus dem Pfälzerwald und lasse mich gerne vom Schicksal überraschen. Welche Fähigkeiten bringst auf die Insel mit, und wohin möchtest du dein Talent entwickeln? Momentan studiere ich im letzten Semester Virtual Design mit dem Schwerpunkt 3D, möchte mich aber in Zukunft als Generalist beweisen. Was langweilt dich zu Tode, und was lässt deinen Adrenalinpegel steigen? Todeslangeweile bekomme ich vom Fernsehen und schlechtem Wetter. Dank Parasol habe ich das Wakeboarden für mich entdeckt! Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde, und was bewegt dich wirklich? Aktuell konzentriere ich mich stark auf meinen Bachelor-Abschluss, denn das steht an oberster Stelle. Allerdings versuche ich auch so oft es, geht die Welt zu erkunden, Neues entdecken und so viel Zeit wie nur möglich mit meiner Familie zu verbringen. Welches Gadget ist unentbehrlich, und welche Applikation hat immer eine Lösung parat? Wären wir ohne das Internet nicht alle hilflos aufgeschmissen? Welcher Domain stattest du täglich einen Besuch ab und wem gerne in echt? Man könnte sagen, dass Youtube mich durch mein Studium gebracht hat. Da ich neu in der Stadt bin, habe ich viel Neues zu entdecken und genieße Düsseldorf in allen Zügen :) Was liest und hörst du momentan, und welches Standardwerk möchtest du nicht missen? Ein von meiner Freundin aufgezwungenes Buch, :D: Der Informations Crash von Max Otte, welches sich als wirklich sehr interessant entpuppte. Die Deftones dürfen auf keiner meiner Playlists fehlen.

Where do you come from, and where are you headed? Born in Heidelberg, studies in Jena, working/living/loving/dancing/dining/staying in Berlin. What skills do you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? I believe that roles are more important than disciplines. I'd consider my biggest strength to be my ability to bring my analytical skills and creativity together. I love content creation as much as I love statistical diagrams. Thus, I am able to challenge my team whenever it tends to get stuck in the "brand trap“ – i.e. the moment when you start acting under the umbrella of what you consider to be the "agreed brand values". I can convince people via passion and motivate them to always go one step further. However, work-wise, my favorite thing to do are co-creation workshops. Moreover, I would describe myself as a feel-good-manager. The reason why I chose to leave my old "family" after five years to join my new gang at Parasol was the impression to find a creative and versatile community that offers a lot of chances to broaden my creative expertise. I am looking for new perspectives and inspiring input. What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? First and foremost, I am bored by instant food. Who wants a ready-made tomato sauce when he or she can have a home-made Carbonara instead? I am bored by too many routines as I think they are a threat to innovation, creativity and passion. Certainly, the one thing that ramps my adrenaline most is to find the one and only record that triggers my audience's goosebumps when I am DJing. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? Beside my passion for cooking (currently I am dealing with espumas and molecular cooking) and an upcoming music-project, we founded the small collective 'Berlin Burners‘ – a group dedicated to the values of Burning Man. In February, we organized the Berlin Decompression on a castle near Halle. Within the next months, we will connect with artist collectives and other like-minded festivals. I have the huge dream of bringing an art installation to the desert one day. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? The Mieschief Bank Cat Coinbox (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bAdvnEkSBEs&noredirect=1) is the way everybody should save their small change. Soundcloud has a solution for everything - music is the answer. Nevertheless, whenever I can't find my keys or wallet etc. the best application I could ever imagine is my girlfriend as she always knows where I leave my stuff (which might sometimes even be under a carpet). Which website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline? Looking for a moment of escapism? because-recollection.com is THE SH*T (turn your headphones on). Frequently, I love to visit motherboard.com as it showcases great topics and has forward-thinking authors, but is still not too geeky and nerdy. For those who want it really nerdy, I can recommend visiting fivethirtyeight.com. Nate Silver's news portal shows how independent (data-)journalism can look like today. Offline, you will only occasionally meet me at home. It's all about #crewlove and I have a bunch of chaotic, creative, charismatic, clever and cool friends.  What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? The book I read last week was the WTF?!-Guide of Afrikaburn. Being a record collector, it is hard for me to name a single EP or LP. If I had to, I would rather say that currently Liem's 'If only is the tune' I drop the most.  My favourite genres are Chicago House, NY House, NY Garage, US Deep House, UK House and D.I.S.C.O. (as well as many of its sub-genres such as Neo-Disco and Cosmic). Whoever is up for a nerdy talk on artists, labels and rare-to-find 7"s or some record digging: I'm your man! Works I wouldn’t want to miss: For a good laughter I'd always recommend reading David Sedaris. Music-wise this is one of my favorite tracks: Dj Dove feat. Inaya Day – 'I'm Touched'.

Hmmm, lesen tue ich aktuelle nix konkretes. Aber wenn sich doch mal Zeit finden sollte, dann gerne die Werke von Max Goldt. Ich kenne niemanden mit solch einer scharfen Beobachtungsgabe. Heute läuft im Hintergrund Mike Figgis und Tomoki Kanada. Aber das ändert sich täglich bei mir. Standradwerke – "Le petit prince" von Antoine de Saint-Exupéry ist zeitlos. Auch nach 70 Jahren.

The last four years I’ve been working as a social media manager in a start-up company. Far future plans: Spending the fall of my life in a beautiful home in Hackney or Shoreditch. My baking skills are great. Unfortunately cooking is not so well – but this was not the question. In my job I’m really passionate about creating the best content for the target audience. I speak fluent Dutch. You can look forward to learning many fun new words. What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? I’m fed up with boring social media content.   My adrenaline level ramps up when I’m thinking of flying. In a very negative way. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? Currently nothing material. I longed for vacation and I went to the French Atlantic Coast – before starting the island life here. I look forward to new colleagues, challenges, new tools and exciting products. I throw in creativity and attention to detail when it comes to client requests. I get bored of superficiality, monologues and traffic jams. Chaos, no Nutella at home, empty batteries on the one hand travelling in general on the other hand affect my adrenaline level. What’s your current object of desire, and what really moves you? At the moment: Tickets for the Coldplay concert. I enjoy travelling to extraordinary places, exploring foreign cultures and sharing good experiences with my family and friends. What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? I’m browsing through Salt & Silver – a mix of travel and cook book. The book on my night table: Love x Style x Life Music I like: Angus & Julia Stone (Grizzly Bear), Ryan Adams (All you had to do was stay), James Bay (Let it go), Jennifer Hudson (Trouble), Robin Schulz (Headlights). Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I originally come from Poland, but since I was 17, I traveled and lived here and there. More recently I stayed for a few years in Denmark. Now, obviously Düsseldorf is calling. Where I will be in the future – we shall see, but I keep in mind a few lovely destinations. What skills would you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? I bring with me some not too shabby character animation and drawing skills. I have huge interest in storytelling and cinematography therefore I'd like to develop these skills besides continuing to work on my animation and drawing abilities. What bores you to death and what ramps up your adrenaline level? I enjoy a little bit of boredom from time to time – it can work as a nice break from a busy schedule. Let's just say, I am never bored even if nothing is happening – I just enjoy it. :-) Snowboarding and wakeboarding definitely rise my adrenaline levels. Especially when I jump up and feel like I am flyyyiiiing... but in fact it's just 10 cm above the ground. I would like to learn longboarding at some point, but when I'll fall, it won't be like landing in the water or the snow... What’s your current object of desire, and what really moves you?  Just recently, I placed my hands on a kalimba at my friend's place. It's such a beautiful sounding instrument, I will get one the next time I come across it in a music store or a flea market. Otherwise what I mostly desire are no objects, but a happy life spent in the company of my family and friends, and filled with enriching travels and positive experiences. What moves me are freedom and independence. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? A cup tea always brings a solution. Especially when you share it with someone dear. Which website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline? Pinterest for visual research and inspiration. Duolingo is an irreplaceable tool for language learning to me. I'll be kicking off some German language learning this year. Care 2 is a petition site where you can support causes you stand for. I don't go there everyday, but from time to time it reminds me about the things I care about, and I feel good when I can give them support.  Offline I meet family, friends and animals. Sometimes I meet strangers through animals (I have to pet every other dog I meet on the street) or when I wear weird fivefingers shoes. They are magnets for strangers. What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? Turn this song on, right now: September by Earth, Wind & Fire and start dancing! :-) I recently enjoy listening to Jungle, Kimbra, Banks, Tame Impala to name a few. At the moment the book I am enjoying is the Book of Ego by Osho. I wish everyone in the world read the China Study by T. Colin Campbell. There are a few films that came to my mind: The Lives of Others' (Das Leben der Anderen) – an amazing drama/thriller, ‚ Earthlings  – an eye opener, Minions – my recent animated favorite, and I often come back to Curb Your Enthusiasm, a hilarious tv series with Larry David (co-creator of Seinfeld).

Langeweile gibt es nicht! Das Nachmittagsfernsehprogramm lässt meinen Adrenalinpegel steigen, weil ich mich unendlich darüber aufregen könnte, dass bestimmte Sendungen überhaupt produziert werden. Ja, auch wenn ich keine einzige davon schaue, die Namen reichen schon… Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Ein Stück Torte, das neben meinem Laptop steht und darauf wartet, gegessen zu werden, wenn ich mit dem Beantworten fertig bin. Welches Gadget ist unentbehrlich und welche Applikation hat immer eine Lösung parat? Google. Welcher Domain stattest du täglich einen Besuch ab und wem gerne in echt? In nächster Zeit wird das vor allem Google Maps sein. Ansonsten unzählige tumblr Blogs. In echt: Alle Orte, wo es leckeres Essen gibt. Was liest und hörst du momentan und welche Standardwerke möchtest du nicht missen? Gerade lese ich "Die Physiker" von Dürrenmatt ? eines meiner Lieblingsbücher. Musik: The XX, Kings of Convenience, The Whitest Boy Alive, Lorde, Birdy gehen immer und gerade "wiederentdeckt" Fleetwood Mac mit "Everywhere".

Die Entscheidung war sehr bewusst und daher gibt es erst einmal keinen Wunsch, wohin es weiter gehen soll. Welche Fähigkeiten bringst auf die Insel mit, und wohin möchtest du dein Talent entwickeln? Nachdem ich in NRW geboren wurde, bin ich über einige Umwege über Niedersachsen und (fast) Hessen, nach 18 Jahren Aufwachsen in einer kleinen Stadt in der Eifel, letztendlich wieder in NRW gelandet. Generell bin ich gelangweilt von Menschen, die keinen trockenen Humor verstehen – aber Bügeln ist jetzt auch nicht so meins. Meinen Adrenalinspiegel lässt meine Tochter steigen und das jedes Mal, wenn sie auf dem Spielplatz lieber auf die dünnsten Äste von angrenzenden Bäumen klettert, als zu schaukeln. Bei meinem beruflichen Start ist mir der Bezug zum Bewegtbild wichtig und ich will in dem Bereich noch viel lernen. Da sind die Insel-Projekte genau das Richtige. Ausserdem wäre es sehr interessant zu wissen, wie die Menschen in 200 Jahren leben und was sie dann über heute denken. Erkenntnisreich war definitiv „Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things“. Musikalisch kann ich vielen Richtungen was abgewinnen, aber vor allem Hip Hop und Beats. Momentan wird viel Umse und Betty Ford Boys gehört.

Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Ich komme aus einem winzig kleinen Dorf in Südhessen, aus dem ich erfolgreich erst nach Unterfranken, und nun hier nach Düsseldorf geflohen bin! Wo ich hin will? Großartige Literatur! Vor allem "Tanz mit dem Schafsmann" gefiel mir extrem gut. Musikalisch warte ich gerade auf das neue Album von Muse und tröste mich während dessen mit Nerd-Rapper Rockstah.

Where do you come from, and where are you headed? Geographically speaking, I was born and raised in Guatemala and have been living in Germany for the past 4 years. Professionally speaking, I come from a Technical and Customer Support role at an Amazon Subsidiary by day and a Web Development and Design student by night.I am headed into becoming a full time Web Developer through a Web Development traineeship at Parasol. . What skills do you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? I can make a killer Guacamole. Oh, I also have some web development and design knowledge, which I look forward to use in future projects. I want to develop strategies for writing better and more efficient code, as well as to learn how to think strategically in projects. What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? What bores me? I guess anything that has to do with waiting. For example, waiting in line, waiting for the delayed U-bahn, waiting for a slow website to load. What ramps my adrenaline? A good song, looking at a cool website (like this one), superhero movies, meeting friends for a drink or two, reading funny t-rex jokes, playing cageball, dutch interior design (I know, that ́s a bit weird), dancing Lindy Hop, building stuff (with code or with real life materials), and, as cheesy as it sounds, I love learning new things.. What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? Um, I think it would be cool to have an Apple Watch with a GPS tracker for running and through which I could listen to Spotify offline without having to carry my phone. Maybe Apple’s September release introduces this... What moves me? Traveling. Seeing different cultures and ways of doing things fascinates me. I feel inspired by nature. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution? My noise cancelling headphones are indispensable to me. And not much of a gadget, but it is something I definitely cannot live without, are my glasses. I’m a bit blind. I wouldn’t say just one application has the solution to everything. Although, Mr. Google is very good at trying to achieve that. So, for life stuff: My weather app (especially in Germany, one day could be summer and the next could be winter), Spotify and Mr. Google. Whom do you meet offline?I have several favorite websites: YouTube (I follow channels like Casey Neistat and DevTips), I read tons of articles that drop in my inbox through newsletters I have subscribed to. For example: Free Code Camp, Codrops, Medium and FrontEnd Focus. Offline I go dancing Lindy Hop with my Fiancée, I play cage ball, I meet friends at pubs or restaurants. What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? I am currently reading The Talent Code by Daniel Coyle. I am very versatile with music. I pretty much listen to anything and everything. I go from salsa to schlager, from swing to rap and everything in between. Yesterday I was really hooked on Eminem, today I am listening to Britney Spears' new album (I feel a bit embarrassed, but I was curious to hear what her new sound was like). Classics? In music I am a big fan of the 90’s. I would say one of my all time favorites is Changes by Tupac. Now for books, in literature I really love the story of Dorian Gray from Oscar Wilde. Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I come from a little village near Osnabrück and I just genuinely hated growing up there. Nothing to do all day, but watching cows turning grass into poop! I always saw myself somewhere in a bigger city. I never really felt at home in Germany, I was always drawn to the idea of living in England. It’s still one of my biggest goals. Career wise applying for the job at Parasol was a big step into a better direction. Scary, but mostly exciting. I guess you gotta risk it to get the biscuit!  What skills do you bring to the company? How would you want to develop your talents? „I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you“. Nah – just kidding, but A+ if you know which movie this is from. I would say my Lettering skills are something not everyone’s familiar with nor has the experience or the ambition to do so. I am in love with the individual aspect of it. Creating something new and from scratch, without using fonts that already exist. I like. Developing my talents: To be honest, I want to know everything! But If I had to choose I’d like to get more knowledge in the fields of web & app design. I always had a thing for the digital and interactive side of design, especially coming from a print background. But I never really had the chance to get into it more and in depth.  What bores you to death and what ramps your adrenaline level? Bad movies with horrible story lines and especially with bad dubs! There‘s nothing worse than a bad voice actor killing the great performance of an actor. That‘s probably one of my biggest pet peeves. I only watch movies or series in their original language, no exceptions.  FANGIRLING! When a new season starts or a new movie comes out. Writing and discussing theories with friends about what could happen next just gives me life. I mean Rey is definitely a reincarnation of Anakin Skywalker!!  Well written characters. Interesting character development. Fandoms and the devotion that they put into their fan art, cosplays etc. Also people who know more than me, especially about work. Just feed me your knowledge!  What's your current object of desire, and what really moves you? My guitar...always! I am most certainly not the best singer songwriter, but there’s nothing better than writing a new song at 4 am.  New clothes! Sounds superficial, but defining myself trough my looks and clothes is a big part of me. It‘s not important to look pretty, it‘s the part where I just can be who I want to be without questioning myself. I have this particular image of me in my head and I‘m not going to stop until I get it. I just want to be! Just be.  What gadget is indispensable? Toothbrush!  What website do you visit frequently? Whom do you meet offline?Netflix & Tumblr. Yeah, I know you probably expected a fancy design website, but nope just that. I need my daily dose of series and movies. Tumblr in particular is a great platform for new and interesting things. You can basically find everything you like! I learned a lot over the past years, by simply reading stories about people on Tumblr. You gain insight of so many different mindsets. That‘s pretty interesting. Aaand it‘s also the best platform for fangirling there is! Period. Offline: The greatest people in the whole world of course! We are a squad of 4 and we have this thing that we call MÄGGER MITTWOCH (sometimes we actually manage it to be on Wednesdays) where we play cards, drink beer and complain about everything that bothers us. Without them I would be lost! Sadly all of us will be living in different cities soon.  What books and music are you enjoying at the moment? What are the works you wouldn’t want anyone to miss? Harry Potter! Always! I listen to the audio books (only read by Rufus Beck) at least twice a year since I was 8. And yes it never gets old. Besides Harry Potter, I enjoy reading a lot of Fantasy. Especially Terry Pratchett. His version of Death is by far my favourite character of all time. The title of my portfolio is basically based on this particular character. I am really into everything from the late 60s, 70s, 80s (Very important! Best time for music and movies. Well, at least the most cheesy ones): Classic Rock, Nintendocore, Thrash Metal... From Careless Whispers from Wham! (and yes I liked this song before Deadpool came out) to Disciple from Slayer. I always say „I like everything, except for the things I don’t like!“ Favorite song at the moment: Larkin Poe - Sucker Puncher. Eine selbst gestaltete New Era Cap von newerabyyou.com wäre schon ziemlich sweet. Bewegen tun mich lustige Filme, bevorzugt mit Will Ferrell oder Seth Rogen, spannende Serien von denen man an einem verregneten Tag auch gern mal ne ganze Staffel schafft, und etwas handwerkliches an meiner Wohnung zu machen, bevorzugt mit meiner Makita Ausrüstung. Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Nach meinem Abitur war ich für ein Jahr in Dallas als Au Pair. Danach zog es mich zurück in die Heimat, das schöne Koblenz, um dort eine Ausbildung in einer Werbeagentur zu absolvieren, bevor ich dann mein Studium „International Business“ in Düsseldorf begonnen habe. Zurück aus meinem Auslandssemester in Spanien zog es mich direkt auf die kreative Insel. Wir werden sehen, wo es mich danach hintreibt. Monotonie ist todlangweilig! Reisen find ich super und außergewöhnliche Orte können einem den Atem rauben. Mein Nachbar sorgt definitiv im negativen Sinne für einen viel zu hohen Adrenalinpegel. Was ist dein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde und was bewegt dich wirklich? Mein Objekt der Begierde, seit Kindertagen: ein eigener Hund! Freunde und Familie bewegen mich am meisten. Woher kommst du und wohin willst du? Ich komme aus Berlin. Das schöne Charlottenburg in West-Berlin ist meine private 'base station'. Hier in Berlin habe ich auch einen Teil meines dualen Studiums absolviert, habe hier dann die ersten Arbeitserfahrungen in der Werbung gesammelt und mir dann schließlich den Ruck gegeben, mich endlich nur noch mit dem Medium Bewegtbild zu befassen. Für mich lag die Faszination des Films schon immer darin, dass es so viele Puzzleteile gibt bis ein Bild entsteht und dieses nur durch Teamwork seine endgültige Form erhält. Dieses Puzzle zusammen zu setzen, ist meine Motivation. Neue Projekt bringen neue Denkansätze mit sich und fordern (oft) neue Lösungswege – ich will mit jedem Projekt Neues lernen und mich mit all diesen Erfahrungen gewappnet dann wieder auf neue, coole Projekte stürzen!. Welche Fähigkeiten bringst auf die Insel mit und wohin möchtest du dein Talent entwickeln? Auf einer Insel braucht man nicht nur Sonnencreme und ein Schlauchboot. Ich bringe Willensstärke, Ehrlichkeit und Tatendrang mit und einen langen Atem, wenn es darum geht den Dingen auf den Grund zu gehen. Da ich in der Vergangenheit v. a. klassische Produktionen begleitet habe, möchte ich in der Zukunft auch kleinere 'Rock-N-Roll Projekte' unter die Lupe nehmen, um in der Lage zu sein, eines Tages jegliche Art von Projekt gleichermaßen umsetzten zu können. Was langweilt dich zu Tode und was lässt deinen Adrenalinpegel steigen? Mich langweilt: Wenn Leute zu cool zum Tanzen sind, wenn gute Musik läuft. Die Aufregung steigt, wenn ich das erste Mal vor großen Gruppen eine Ansprache halten muss. But a perfect day should start and end with a nice video which reminds us of the reason why we’re working in this field of work. Cause we simply love beautiful things. I love to meet friends in personal. All day long we’re staring at displays whether it’s a computer or cellphone display. It’s a refreshing feeling to turn it off and enjoy analogue things. If it’s cooking or playing some music. In my opinion it can be really efficient and satisfying to work with friends or colleagues on ideas which are not limited by the speed of the internet. Where do you come from, and where are you headed? I come from a tranquil village near Paderborn called Lippstadt. After stops in the Sauerland and Ruhr region I stranded in Düsseldorf. I finished a master in photography and was working more than two years as a producer in Düsseldorf lately. My next goal is to explore the island step by step. If I want something, then it is a very spontaneous decision from the heart. My list of things that I do not need is definitely longer. What gadget is indispensable and which application always has a solution?Of course my mobile – they say a phantom telephone ping is a widespread disease nowadays – so at least I’m not alone. The internet offers pretty much madness, but also most of the time a solution for everything. Facebook and Instagram are probably a lot more than websites. They are the anchor point for social life, stalking instrument and deflection magnet. Mein aktuelles Objekt der Begierde kenne ich wahrscheinlich noch nicht mal, denn das sehe ich erst, wenn ich davor stehe – No Homo Oeconomicus. Andererseits weiß ich schon, dass ich an keinem Plattenladen vorbei gehen kann, ohne zumindest mal reinzuschauen und mir die Neuzugänge anzuhören. But I have a strong stomach.  Next on the list – David Lynch is reviving Twin Peaks in 2017.  Watching John Oliver is always entertaining.  Music-wise if I had to choose one direction it would be Soul & Hip-Hop. Listening right now to new tracks from Kendrick Lamar and Faada Freddy. For ”back in the good old days" tracks, you can never go wrong with The Reverend Al Green.
