Introduction
[edit]Why is there an EBU R128 standard?
[edit]You know when you’ve been watching a movie on TV and the commercials come in and suddenly they are screechingly loud in comparison? And how annoying that is? That’s because up until recently broadcast TV and radio measured how loud things were by the loudest peak in the material, and made sure nothing went above the maximum level by the simple expedient of sticking a limiter at the end of their signal chain. Now this sort-of worked for radio stations that were mainly playing pop music, but was dreadful for TV. Big-budget movies need to have a high dynamic range because they have many quiet parts (e.g. conversations between characters) and many loud parts (explosions, engines revving, gunfights etc.). So just tightly compressing them would seriously mess up the sound. This meant that movies sounded much quieter than everything else, especially much quieter than the commercials in between.

How to double check if you're using a correct EBU R128 mix
[edit]Drag and Drop one or even more files onto the icon of the application to start the screening. The speed of the screening depends on the file size and the server connection if you are connected to the server.
The tool will add a green dot next to the filename in the Apple finder for a positive test. For a negative test it will create a red dot and also a report which will appear as a text file. This report can be send to the deliverer to give proper information of the issue.
