Deployment Notes

The Live and Staging servers are on the same box but with differing webroots. All access to this box are blocked unless the VPN supplied by i22 is used. The deployment workflow uses the VPN connection assigned to David Smith and only supports one concurrent connection. Therefore, it is not possible to deploy to both Staging and Live at the same time.

Sourcecode

Develop Branch / Preview Version

The "develop" branch will automatically deploy each commit to the Preview server.

Master Branch / Live Version

Before the deployment to Live is executed, the last developer to have worked on the project (or the Head of Development) must merge the develop branch into the master branch (if not already done so). During the deployment, GitLab will automatically establish a VPN connection to the i22 (web hoster) private network and will then proceed with transferring the files to the correct paths.

Wordpress Content

If the content from the Preview instance must be migrated to the Staging/Live environments, this must be done via the WP Migrate DB Pro plugin via the WordPress backend.
