Harddrive Preparation for On Set Production

First the hard drives need to be checked in terms of operability and content, then they need to be formatted, named and labelled and finally packed into a peli case and handed over to a producer. Password and setup are transferred via email.

SETUP

Each setup contains 2 hard drives - master and backup.
depends on your Production how many Setup you need.

HARDDRIVE FORMATING

External Hard Drives need to be Encrypted

Launch “Disk Utility” from /Applications/Utilities/

Pull down the “Format” menu and choose “Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)

assign a project-related password
Syntax

• project code/special character/year of production/special character/add on
• bsp MI17A01&2017§kit

Labelling of hard drives
Syntax

• project code MASTER/BACKUP numbering
• bsp MI17A01_MASTER_001

external Hard Drives must have Thunderbolt 2/3 and/or USB3

the password needs to be entered under Last Pass and shared with the project-related colleague

CONTENT PELI CASE

• Harddrive Setup (MASTER/BACKUP)
• Power supply unit for each Harddrive
• Thunderbolt cable not less than 2
• USB3 cable cable not less than 2
• power adaptor for countries other than EU

STICK ON LABEL

the label needs to contain the following information

• Hardrive Name
• Special feature (RAID etc)
• Parasol-Island address
• labelling software is available at the front desk computer (rieke will guide you)
