New page

'''Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG)'''

A Picture Profile selectable on a variety of modern cameras.
It´s a Hybrid of the common Rec.709 Standart and LOG.

HLG is displayed regularly on a Rec.709 Monitor but is creating internally more Dynamic Range than H.264

-Pros
You can use a lower ISO compared to the common LOG profiles, such as Sony S-LOG, with a native ISO of 800.
It produces better color tones, especially in dark areas.
It´s easier to expose and color grade compared to S-LOG.
If it's recorded in 10 bit, then it is HDR ready.
HDR is than supported by platforms such as YouTube and shows the HDR on supported devices automatically.

-Cons
While compared to S-LOG less possibilities to grade.
